Are We Still Listening – In, Out, or Not at All?

How long can we endure it? Simply listening? How long do we really last? Listening without reservation? Can we do that? What do we hear? Do we only follow what we want to hear? Or are we merely waiting for our turn? Do we wait and see or do we immediately jump into the conversation? At what point does listening become too exhausting for us? Where are our thoughts? Do we share them?

How often do we listen without understanding – and yet believe we know? Do we endure not knowing before we form our opinion? Or do we not want to know that we don’t know?

What do we miss hearing, even though it’s constantly screaming in our ears? And what do we hear, even though it was never said? How do we categorize? How often do we bathe our thoughts in noise because we simply can’t stand the silence? Who knows? Perhaps silence brings new ideas again, even though routine is already demanding of us? Where would we end up if we simply abandoned the familiar like that? Do we have time for new things? Do we have energy? Can we act?

Do we also listen inward?

How often do we question ourselves? Or do we prefer to stick with our familiar opinions for simplicity’s sake? Do we have interest in other perspectives? What comfort zone do we set up for ourselves to avoid the uncertain? What do we miss because of this?

Where do we direct our attention? Do our thoughts stick to the past or do they drift into the future? How much interest do they have in the present?

Do we listen?

What if we really began to really listen? Not only to our own thoughts, but also to the statements of others? To listen attentively to one another? Can we imagine that?

What could emerge from this?
Perhaps understanding
?
Perhaps even for one another?

With best Wishes
