Live Session: Pros & Cons of Empathy

Empathy shines in almost every professional article as one of the most important leadership competencies. Many emphasize how empathetic behavior can be beneficial, persuasive, motivating, and more, and how it can be learned.

U

nfortunately, due to its overuse, empathy may face the same fate as authenticity in the long run: after losing its true meaning, it sinks into the buzzword abyss.

Until then, we should take the opportunity to clarify what empathy is generally understood to be and what it actually means. This way, everyone can unleash its full potential and prepare themselves against its potential downsides in a timely manner. The most important point to note: compassion does not promote self-leadership or leadership competence.

Pros and Cons – live on February 25th and 26th, 2021

According to a study by Sarina Saturn people with high empathy can handle stress much better. On the other hand, mustering empathy can also be an exhausting endeavor. Before potential emptiness can set in, this session will shed light on the advantages and disadvantages of empathy. It will also provide recommendations on how to improve your empathy and what to be mindful of to ensure it doesn’t become an obstacle. Spoiler: the right dosage is crucial here to 😉
